Inclusion

Care runs deep at Terracon

Our culture of care and concern is an important part of who we are at Terracon. This starts with safety and extends to our holistic wellbeing.

Care and concern is how we treat each other and ensure our offices are a safe place in all aspects, where everyone is treated with respect and feels included. That’s why our Guiding Behaviors outline the responsibilities of every employee in setting the example to treat everyone fairly and respectfully, speak up for others and ourselves, and commit to inclusion.

We’re committed to doing our part to help foster conversations and bring awareness to inclusion. We believe that by focusing on inclusion, diversity and equity will follow.  Here are just a few of the ways we support inclusion at Terracon:

  • We support our employee resource groups, which are grassroots, employee-organized and employee-led groups open to all employees. ERGs offer an excellent support system by serving as the common voice for employee-owners and their diverse perspectives.
  • Our Inclusive Culture Leadership Team includes approximately 20 employee-owners from across the country to help guide our strategic efforts for driving a truly inclusive culture at Terracon.
  • We assess our progress by asking our employee-owners how they feel about our culture of inclusion through listening sessions and our annual employee-owners engagement survey.
  • We observe industry inclusion observances, including Women in Construction Week in March and Construction Inclusion Week in October, to raise awareness of the opportunities available for women and the need to improve inclusion in the construction industry.
  • We create opportunities to learn and celebrate inclusion together through annual observances of Black History Month, Women’s History Month, International Day of Women and Girls in Science, International Women’s Day, and more.
  • Our Terracon Foundation provides financial support to organizations that promote inclusion among underrepresented groups, including the 50K Coalition, Women Transportation Seminar Foundation, the Construction Specifications Institute Foundation, and several community and university grants in our local areas.

These efforts are just a starting point. Our journey of committing to inclusion has no final destination; it is an ongoing and daily commitment to demonstrate how care runs deep at Terracon.
